How To Be Part Of The Top 2% In The World

I know you clicked this because you thought of wealth like Dangote, Elon Musk or Zuckerberg.

I want that too.

This essay is to show you the fastest way to be in the top Two (2) percent of people that ACTUALLY learn something.

Learning is a skill that will be with us forever.

Elon Musk learned to build rockets from reading textbooks.

For some reason, we never find the time to learn. I have been in new areas that require i learn a new language but I ended up being mediocre.

I lived in Calabar, Nigeria for Six (6) years and I can’t make a proper sentence.

This brings us back to the real meat of this essay.

‘The eye sees only what the mind is prepared to comprehend –Robertson Davies

I was not thinking of myself as a Yoruba man that could also speak Efik Language.

Your thoughts shape your life. What are you thinking of learning? What are you thinking of becoming?

How do you get to that point where you discipline yourself through the process, taking that knowledge and creating impact.

Here are 3 easy ways to hack your learning

  1. Show up: For everything you are doing right now there are five (5) others you could be doing. Decide right now, the most important things that matter to you. and find ways to improve. You are the average of the 5 people you spend time with. This isn’t only humans but networks, conferences, books, movies, and music. I am sure you get the message. Get books , attend events and be with people that move you forward. Show up every day. For me, it’s personal and business development. Find yours.
  2. Pay attention: The rays of the sun burns the hottest when it is focused on one point. We have monkey minds, its easy to get distracted.  I just forgot the point I was about to make because my mind wandered off a bit. Everywhere you now see meditation tips and advice. Some are great while some are crap but they all have the same message. Find a way to focus your attention and willpower. Focus on your breathing. If your mind wanders, bring back your focus to your breathing. If you apply this same technique to your daily life and focusing on showing up as in step one. You will move forward in leaps and bounds. Deep work can only be done in states of flow. Since you have committed to showing up, take everything else off your mind focus on your learning process. I want to be a lot of things but I am learning to take it a step at a time, go deep first before going wide.
  3. Implement what you learn: At some point in my company at www.meter.ng I was doing everything, I still am. Making sales and getting customers in the door. I had to use digital avenues as we did not have a lot of money for ad spend. I listened to audiobooks and read marketing materials but it was easy to grasp because I was implementing the strategies in real time. It got better when I starting showing other business owners how to grow their business with just enough resources. Now I get asked to train or speak at events. It appears like I am an expert but I have only just been implementing what I am learning.

I am not in the top 2% of people learning, in fact, the setbacks of a life long of learning is that you will always feel inadequate. I am just comforted with the fact that there is a 1% improvement in self and in mind.
